THE Bristol Academy of Sport - part of Filton College - is launching a Cricket Academy to add to its portfolio of sporting disciplines.
Starting in September, the new cricket school will increase recruits to the 300- strong Academy of Sport, whose recently-opened £17.5million campus provides unrivalled facilities for students on sports courses.
The Cricket Academy will be headed by former Gloucestershire player Tim Hancock who played professionally for the county for 14 years and took part in five winning Lord's finals. In addition to cricket coaching skills, he also has academic knowledge as a trained Level Three coach with a Sports Science degree.
Academy students will spend up to 16 hours a week playing and participating in cricket-related activities and will also study a full-time academic qualification at Filton College.
Potential students need to apply for a full-time academic qualification in addition to membership of the Cricket Academy.
Course information can be obtained on the College's website at www.filton.ac.uk or by calling admissions on 0117 931 2121.
