THORNBURY FM goes back on air for a second broadcast - this time for 28 days - this May and station organisers are already busy with programme planning.
The daily broadcasts will involve more than 40 presenters and for the next few weeks the Gazette will be meeting some of them and discovering what's in store - starting today with station vice-chairman Andrew Mearman who will be hosting three programmes - The Green Room, Friday Night alternative and Generation Gaps.
Said Andrew: "The Green Room, on Sundays at 4pm, focuses on green themes through music. For example, the Beach Boys' track Do It Again is a song about recycling. It's programme for people who enjoy good music and bad jokes.
"On Friday evenings at 10pm, I'll present the Friday Night Alternative, on which I'll be playing music which is just a bit off the mainstream - and without the jokes.
"My final programme, Generation Gaps, goes out on Saturdays at 5pm plus an opening day special on May 1 at 1pm.
"It aims to bring young and older people together to discuss issues which concern them. We'll consider the serious, such as the issue of respect, and also the less serious such as 'can you explain to your grandma the appeal of drum'n'bass?'
"I'm certainly going to be busy throughout May. I hope people will be busy listening to Thornbury FM."
