Castle School success

From the archive, first published Friday 30th Sep 2005.

SPORTS teams at The Castle School have enjoyed early success in the new term.

The rugby teams have been very active already and are quickly gelling and getting rid of the summer rust.

The first XV beat Gordano School 20-5 in the Daily Mail National Cup, while the Year 11 team finished as runners-up in the South West Schools Army Tens Tournament after losing the final in extra time.

The Year 10 team have recorded two excellent wins over Rednock School (29-10) in the National Cup and Cotham School (55-7), with the Year 9 team losing against the same opposition.

The promising Year 8 team got their campaign off to a flying start by beating St Mary Redcliffe 45-15.

On the football pitch, the Year 11 team defeated Henbury 3-0 in the first round of the Bristol Schools Cup.

Impressive individual performances have been too numerous to mention but far more encouraging is the amount of time and effort that the students have already put into practice sessions and representing the school.
