WHEN Jasmine the cat disappeared from home two weeks ago her worried owners had given her up for dead.
However, little did they know that their nine-year-old pedigree Birman was alive and kicking - thanks to the action of a kind stranger.
Jane Kent, of Pilning, contacted the Gazette after being reunited with Jasmine, who went missing on July 1, to say thank you to all the people who helped reunite the cherished pet with her family.
"When Jasmine went missing I had all but given up on her but my husband insisted on putting up missing posters in the hope that somebody would recognise her and get in touch," said Jane.
"One lady even put our phone number in her mobile so that she could get in touch immediately."
Meanwhile, Jasmine was having the adventure of a lifetime.
Jane told the Gazette: "Jasmine went about a mile away from home, managed to cross the M4 motorway and was eventually found near Severn Beach. We were so lucky because somebody had seen our poster and phoned us to say that they had spotted her."
Jane and husband Tony were finally reunited with Jasmine 13 days after her disappearance and the couple would like to say thanks to the stranger who helped them.
"Jasmine is a pedigree and wouldn't have survived in the wild for long. You don't expect it to happen these days and it restores your faith in human nature.
"We are so grateful that we have her back," said a relieved Jane.
