Panto rolls into town

From the archive, first published Friday 9th Dec 2005.

THE COUNTDOWN has started - oh yes it has - to Gloucestershire's biggest and best pantomime at Cheltenham's Everyman which, this year, is Jack and the Beanstalk.

Jack and the Beanstalk is the classic tale of a boy, his cow and a very large weed problem, but the Everyman's production is made much more special with lots of local references. There's Apperley the good fairy, Stinchcombe and Oddington the baddies, Dame Trot, Berkeley the dog and beautiful Cherington as well as furry and feathered friends.

The Everyman's reputation for producing a wonderful homegrown show for all the family has made its pantomime a "must see" every Christmas and this year looks likely to be no exception.

The fun began last weekend and runs through until Saturday, January 14. Tickets and information on performance times (including matinees) are available from the box office.
