MEMBERS of Hogweed Trotters have been used to jumping on the tour bus in recent weeks but one Hogweed has gone further than most. Dom Hurford is currently on his travels 12,000 miles away in New Zealand.
Nevertheless, on Sunday, October 30 he took time to don his Hogweeds vest and compete in the Auckland Half Marathon.
Despite completing only two training runs in the last couple of months and on an undulating course, Dom finished just a minute outside his personal best in 1:49:30.
Eleven thousand eight hundred or so miles closer to home, Adrian Pook competed in the Snowdonia Marathon.
The race started in driving rain but the clouds soon lifted to reveal spectacular scenery around a course which included 2,000ft of climbing. Lifted by the fantastic support all the way around the course, Adrian finished in 4:04:30.
On Sunday, October 23, Tim Lund and Adrian Howell competed in the Bodmin Triathlon. Tim finished the 400m swim, 18.5km bike, 8.5km run event in 13th position overall in a time of 1:21:56 (08:15 swim, 36:01 bike, 37:40 run). Adrian finished 43rd in 1:31:00 (8:48 swim, 37:36 bike, 44:46 run).
Finally, the October Hogweed Trotter of the Month awards, sponsored by Sodbury Tyre & Exhaust Centre - Hatters Lane, have been announced.
For their performances at the Bristol and Cardiff Half Marathons, the awards go to Kay Tatton and Marcus Axford.
Kay produced a personal best by 12 minutes at Bristol (1:48:10) while at Cardiff, Marcus improved on his personal best by nine minutes (1:53:27).
