A POPULAR tea room has won a top food hygiene award for a second time.
Wickwar Tea Rooms has managed the rare achievement of receiving the South Gloucestershire Council Environmental Services award twice after impressing judges with the tea room's high regard for the health of customers.
Owner Sharon Brown, who set up the tea room as a personal project three years ago, was very pleased.
"I'm really proud of the tea rooms," she said. "It is good to be recognised for the work my staff and I do."
The key to success, Ms Brown says, is her desire to please customers. "Right from the start of running this shop I placed a comment box for customers to offer suggestions, which I have taken very seriously," she said.
"I think the customers also like that fact that we are making the food in front of them."
Ms Brown decided to start the tea room on Wickwar's High Street when her teenage children gained independence. Her motivation was her love for cooking and her experience, having worked in the food industry before.
"The three years have gone well, I just hope to carry on the good work for my customers," she added.
