NICK TANNER has relinquished his position as manager of Almondsbury Town.
He resigned on Tuesday of last week, just before the Wantage game, after being at the helm for the past three years.
Tanner was not available for comment but according to Almondsbury chairman Bob Jenkins he has gone for personal reasons. "There is no animosity and both myself and Nick have enjoyed his time at the club."
He elaborated: "Nick says he has taken Almondsbury as far as he can and feels it is now time to step down and hand over the reins."
Almondsbury's season has not gone too well and they are currently lying uncomfortably near the drop zone at the moment, fourth from bottom.
Highlights of Tanner's spell in charge include taking the club to ninth place in the league - its highest position in the past ten years - and winning the Floodlit Trophy, the club's first trophy in 17 years.
Tanner will be taking a break up to Christmas before re-assessing his position and last week enjoyed a trip up to Anfield to watch Liverpool play.
His successor is Paul Weeks, who was appointed on Monday of this week.
Weeks, who left Bitton five weeks ago, has a lot of experience in local football, including playing in the Southern League and he is a former goalkeeper with Yate Town.
Jenkins added: "Qualified FA coach John Hayles, who was with Bristol Academy, is also joining us. He will be bringing on the youngsters and it should be an exciting time for the club."
